Jacko’s Mother Filed for Divorce in ‘73
Michael Jackson's teen years have been profiled in books and movies. But until now, it's never been revealed that his parents, Katherine and Joseph, were nearly divorced when he was 15 years old. According to legal documents obtained by this column, Katherine Jackson, disgusted by her husband's philandering, obtained a petition for divorce on March 9, 1973, and filed it with the Los Angeles County clerk. According to several people, Katherine Jackson was finally convinced to rescind the divorce papers at the urging of elders at her Jehovah's Witnesses church. Katherine also attempted to divorce her husband in or around 1979, but again was persuaded to drop the action, my sources said.
One motivation for Katherine's unhappiness, at least in the second instance, was the revelation that her husband had fathered a love child with his mistress. That child, a girl named Joh'Vonnie Jackson, is now 31, lives with Joseph Jackson in Las Vegas and for some time worked at that city's McCarran International Airport. Joh'Vonnie's mother is Cheryl Terrell. Joseph Jackson's extramarital affairs, including one with a Motown Records assistant named Gina Sprague, have been detailed in a TV movie about the Jackson family as well as in several books, including one by the Jacksons' daughter La Toya.
In her 1990 memoir "Growing Up in the Jackson Family," La Toya wrote that during the tumultuous early '70s, when the Jackson 5 were busy accumulating hits and touring all over the world, her mother never considered divorce. The papers indicate otherwise. Joh'Vonnie Jackson has held several positions at McCarran Airport, including working as a baggage handler. She is not included in Jackson family events and has never visited Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch.
When the Jackson siblings appeared in court together to show solidarity for Michael, Joh'Vonnie was not present. Neither Michael nor Janet has ever referred to Joh'Vonnie in any interviews. On Katherine Jackson's 1973 divorce petition, she listed the five of her nine children who were still minors at the time: La Toya, Marlon, Michael, Steven (aka Randy) and Janet. Rebbie, Tito, Jackie, and Jermaine were all over 18 by that time. Joh'Vonnie, the youngest child of Joseph Jackson, is eight years the junior of Janet, who was born in 1966. Even though neither of Katherine Jackson's divorce petitions was ever finalized, the couple do not live together, insiders say. Katherine spends most of her time in Encino, Calif., and Joseph lives in Las Vegas.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles County coroner's office says release of Michael Jackson's autopsy results will be delayed.
Coroner's officials had said they were going to release the results this week but Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said Wednesday the announcement will probably not come until next week.
Winter did not discuss reasons for the delay.
Jackson died June 25.
A law enforcement official has said investigators are working under the theory that the powerful anesthetic propofol caused Jackson's heart to stop. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing."

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Michael Jackson's personal doctor administered a powerful anesthetic to help him sleep, and authorities believe the drug is what killed the pop singer, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Monday.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said Jackson regularly received propofol to sleep, a practice far outside the drug's intended purpose. On June 25, the day Jackson died, Dr. Conrad Murray gave him the drug sometime after midnight, the official said.
Though toxicology reports are pending, investigators are working under the theory that propofol caused Jackson's heart to stop, the official said.
Murray, 51, has been identified in court papers as the subject of a manslaughter investigation and authorities last week raided his office and a storage unit in Houston. Police say Murray is cooperating and have not labeled him a suspect.
Murray's lawyer, Edward Chernoff, has said the doctor "didn't prescribe or administer anything that should have killed Michael Jackson." When asked Monday about the law enforcement official's statements he said: "We will not be commenting on rumors, innuendo or unnamed sources."
Dr. Conrad Murray Is Looking More And More Guilty
Law enforcement sources tell us one of the theories they're exploring in Michael Jackson's death is that Dr. Conrad Murray administered Propofol to the singer and then left the room, eventually to return to a dead body.
Our sources say when paramedics arrived Michael Jackson was found with an IV in his arm, an IV stand nearby along with an empty IV bag and oxygen tank.
We're told paramedics who arrived on scene say Dr. Murray's conduct was "strange" -- he was "hard to deal with" and was "getting in the way" of emergency responders.
As we already reported, paramedics wanted to pronounce Jackson dead at the house but Dr. Murray insisted they transport the singer to the hospital.
We're told at the UCLA Medical Center -- after doctors gave up on resuscitation efforts because Jackson was clearly dead -- Dr. Murray continued CPR, which some of the UCLA docs found curious.

Just days after Chris Brown's publicly apology for beating Rihanna's ass, the two of them spent the weekend at the same hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
Even though Michael Jackson died with a reported $400 million in debt, the late King of Pop's debts are expected to be completely cleared with the $$$$ in his estate, according to court documents.
The co-executors of Jackson's estate, MJ's former attorney John Branca and music exec John McClain, have even said they are in the process of wrapping up a few deals that will "generate tens of millions of dollars of revenues" for the estate.
Branca and McClain have set the wheels in motion for allowances to be distributed to Jackson's children Paris, Prince Michael and Blanket, as well as his mother Katherine, but a Los Angeles judge has decided to wait until the guardianship hearing (Aug. 3rd) to consider the allowances.
